Art Demands Democracy
First Thursday August 5, 2010 will be the launch of "Art Demands Democracy". This is a movement designed around creatively modifying old fashioned portable voting booth and redesigning the function of votes taken to have an important value to the community and individuals. The purpose is to develop new awareness and perspective about the importance of voting and participation in local business and culture. Individuals, businesses and other organizations within the Treasure Valley are invited to participate. Participants will redefine, redesign and reuse the voting booths according to their topic listed on the entry form. Topics may include but are not limited: self-expression, promotion, culture, special interests and causes. After the launch participants interested have the opportunity to be involved in a sustained creative campaign designed to foster synergy and partnership between local establishments and the populace. The continued campaign will coordinated by ORRiginal Promotions with those helping launch the event.
We encourage businesses to design their own booth or sponsor a local artist to design one for them. For those interested in sponsoring an artist but don't have contact to do so, coordination with artists and businesses can be done by emailing the address below.
The press release for the campaign was sent to all the major media outlets and continued online campaign through regular newsletters, social media, as well as participation word-of-mouth.
